John K. Cole, President of On Call Notary, LLC, is pleased to have been named the 7th E-Notary for the Commonwealth of Virginia. An E-Notary is a duly commissioned Notary Public who is capable of notarizing documents electronically. It is important that an E-Notary posses a "digital notary seal," such as the one shown above from IdenTrust, that when affixed to a document, will render the document tamper evident, ensuring that no unauthorized attempts to alter the document have been made. Since the job of the Notary Public is to be a guarantor of trust, it is vital that a document be protected from alterations once it has been notarized.
In addition to in-person electronic notary services, On Call Notary, LLC, is proud to announce that we have acquired the technology to be able to perform remote notarizations via webcam (such as Skype, Facetime, or WebEx). These notarizations are performed in strict accordance with Section 47.1-6.1 of the Virginia Code, which stipulates that the identity of any person signing a document via remote session be verified in accordance with either a valid digital certificate, a PIV card, or an Antecedent Identity Proofing Process that conforms to the guidelines of the Federal Bridge Certification Authority. Additionally, all video sessions must me recorded, and the notary should take reasonable precautions to ensure that the two-way live video and audio communication is secure from interception through unlawful means.
At On Call Notary, LLC, we perform E-Notarizations with the same care and attention to detail as with our traditional paper and stamp notarizations.
